"I have a copy of your CD entitled 'Hidden Dancers'... we find it very relaxing while preparing for the evening - it is part of our 'calm down time' before bed! I have 2 small children and we listen to music while dinner is being prepared, during the meal by candlelight and getting ready for bed - right up to story time and then sometimes after while Mummy is cleaning the kitchen and making lunches etc for the next day!"

Composer's Notes

Hidden Dancers followed on from the theme of my previous album, Magic Happens in celebrating the unique beauty of my birthplace in Tropical North Queensland, Australia. I re-connected with my favorite places in the tropics by taking relaxing walks through rainforests, past waterfalls, along deserted beaches etc, all the while taking photographs. Then home at the piano, with the pictures I had taken posted all around me, I composed pieces whose titles pretty much explain what inspired them – A Quiet Path, Waltz of the Palms, Fireflies, The Destiny of a Falling Leaf…

Musically, with this CD I set out with a bit of a point to prove – that it was possible to compose relaxing piano music that was still melodic, musical, and rewarding purely as a listening experience, as well as creating a relaxing mood. To me, it was important for each piece to have a distinct melody, a definite form and structure (in the same way that songs have verses and choruses etc.) and of course to not have all of the tracks sound the same – as music in the relaxation genre can sometimes tend to do.

One of the most fulfilling compliments I have had as an artist is from people who have continually played my albums without becoming tired of them – happily spending many hours reading or relaxing with just the gentle sound of the piano in the background. I hope that the musicality I was so determined to incorporate has given my music a lasting quality, as well as providing immediate feelings of relaxation and enjoyment.
